Family Vacations: getting away from it all...

My father took his work very seriously, puting in long hours, at times away from his family on international business trips. But he always made sure that vacations were very special family times by completely detaching from work and getting away from the rat race to secluded locations. Whether it was out on the far end of Cape Cod in a house on the dunes where we could spend all day on the beach and not see more than a few people, weeklong backpacking trips in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia (sans running water, electricity, phones and people), or the east end of Grand Cayman Island in a small beach house miles from tourists on the west end, we loved these pure escapes and will treasure them forever.
